GEM-GEN2 – we have a new information system

Except interesting realizations, our DAGO team can show off another interesting thing. It is a unique tailor-made information system GEM of the second generation based on the Lotus Notes platform by IBM.
“In our company DAGO, we always needed a system for project management that would allow us the most efficient management of complicated and exacting projects from the P.O.P. segment. This is not just data and document storage, but it should be an interactive space for transparent, flexible and user-friendly coordination of each step realizing particular projects,” explained Marek Končitík, the Sales and Marketing Director.
The result is the second generation system GEM as a development of the previous information system GAM1 our company used and continuously developed since 1999. During last three years, a company RENTEL was creating its new generation customized for DAGO. “It wasn´t easy to create a system that would meet all of our requirements but it finally happened, and now we can say that it is really unique software in several levels: within the system, projects are managed according to their phase, at the same time we always have all data and well-arranged economical reporting available for every project, of course there are several possibilities of communication between internal and external subjects participating in such project,” Marek Končitík described the system DAGO is using in its testing beta version since the beginning of this year. As an advantage, he also mentioned other applications, as for example product catalogue, stock records, logistic management, finance, etc.
This new system is even more efficient tool for us also when submitting and managing contracts in production. GEM-GEN2 allowed a significant acceleration of the whole process – calculation within 24 hours, production within days or weeks. Also the management extensions of the system, so called dashboards, provide clearer filtered orientation within contracts for managers of relevant parts of projects.
The system also enables a direct access for clients and suppliers, thanks to which, for example, data and big files do not accumulate in e-mails, but they are always easily available and actual via the web interface. We continuously debug and develop the whole system, anyway we can already say, after nearly one year testing, that, we could not imagine coordinating so many projects at the actual workforce of our DAGO team without this efficient tool anymore. We thank to RENTEL and to all colleagues for their excellent work and patience when developing and implementing the system!
